The pain we feel when someone close to us leaves this life is both common/universal and unique/intimate. We all know it happens to everyone, but it's always a unique experience for each of us. It helps some of us to believe the person's energy is eternal and has merely transitioned. We will always feel the bond we share with the person, and draw strength from the ability to feel such love. Feeling pain isn't always a negative experience, in this sense. Perhaps the greatest difficulty is to remain open and willing to continue to develop such close ties, knowing they will become painful.

Last week I lost a manager, a friend, a cowriter, & a producer. But most of all Carter was a fan of fans – a true Redhead. He cowrote the song "Red" with me and was the kind of guy who would have been in that line sleeping on the sidewalk. He was a true music lover.

I miss him.

PLEASE come back to Minnesota soon! I've been dying to see you live with the Wabos. You should schedule a show in the twin cities soon! Or a show at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, MN would be freakin' awesome. Or maybe even the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis. Wherever it is, please make it close to the Twin Cities. We have a Trunk or Treat every year at our School where parents decorate their vehicles for the kids. I decided it was time to add a little RED to Halloween. I decorated my CRV with various Sammy and Van Hagar items, Red lights. I was blaring a medley of Sammy, Chickenfoot, and Van Hagar music out the speakers. I think the parents enjoyed it more than the kids. I decided to live my dream as Sammy so I dressed up as him, my oldest son here is dressed as a rocker as well.

Got the book the day it was out. Couldn't put it down and loved it all. I couldn't think it possible by now I'm a bigger Redhead than before. Sammy you are the man and can't wait to hear the 2nd Chickenfoot album.
