Rock & Roll Road Trip Season 2 is coming soon and I was just in Vegas shooting another episode and wow this episode is going to be killer. I visited with Tommy Shaw & J.Y. of Styx, Don Felder, and Carrot Top. Shots were flowing, guitar shredding was unleashed, and cruising the strip in a '62 caddy went down in style!
Just got back from Cabo, and what an incredible couple shows.. Kari's 50th rivaled my annual birthday bashes! It was an 80’s themed party and guests partying included my brother-in-Santo Adam Levine (sporting a crop-top and fanny-pack, joined by his wife Behati who showed her inner 80’s in her "Jane Fonda Workout" outfit), James Hetfield, Bob Weir, Toby Keith, Emeril Lagasse, Michael Anthony and more. In keeping with the 80’s theme they all packed the dance floor for performances by Loverboy and Eddie Money.
Wow a true Rock 'n' Roll radio legend gone. I've known Bob from the beginnings and he's always supported my music - starting with Montrose through my whole career. He was a real rock radio guy - the real deal a fan and supporter of rock music. I must've done his radio show "Rockline" with him 10 times if I did it once. His wife Lynette was the realtor that actually represented me in buying the house next-door to Eddie Van Halen in Malibu back in 85. My love to his family. Very sad news indeed. Sammy
"Three Lock Box" came out today 34 years ago in 1982!! Three Lock Box was my second album at Geffen Records and produced by Keith Olsen who also produced my first million seller "Standing Hampton".
The title was taken completely wrong and I almost had some difficulties with the big store chains thinking it was a sexual thing.
But a "Three Lock Box" stands for mind, body, and spirit -- it was also a very valuable buried treasure usually belonging to royalty. When traveling at sea, Kings and Queens would have their valuables in a chest that took three keys to open.
It's 21 years - now we can finally have a drink together! Cheers and eternal love to my wonderful beautiful wife Kari.
Best Thanksgiving day wishes to all Redheads! The Hagar's had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with the Hetfelds and Mike Kroeger of Nickelback and their families on Maui. Tonight I'm filming my AXS TV show with Mick Fleetwood, Hawaiian bluesman Willi K and Steven Tyler. A little blues jam at Fleetwood's On Front Street, Mick's restaurant in Lahaina Maui.
Went to Adam's Halloween party last night. His guitar player and bass player dressed up like Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. Adam was John Bonham and played drums. They all got up and did a Led Zeppelin set with Linda Perry singing lead...I came out for "Black Dog" - it was awesome!! About a 1,000 people or more in an old bar ballroom with a low ceiling, just like it was for early Zep.
Santo was flowing the VIP area. Music didn't start until midnight so it was a late night with some amazing costumes! Happy Halloween!
After four of the greatest nights in Cabo Wabo history (!!!), Jason and I flew out of Cabo Saturday afternoon Into LA to meet up with the Foo Fighters charity event. Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, KISS's Paul Stanley, Perry Farrell, Stewart Copeland, Lisa Loeb and some others joined the Foos for a crazy intimate (& at full volume, may I add) setting of a couple hundred donors for Dave Groll's annual fundraiser for improvements at the local schools.
Personal message to the fans. Thank you all so much! See you all next year for my 70th!
This is a fresh garden recipe I wrote for Daryl Hall's upcoming cookbook he's writing (probably out sometime next year).
This is how you grate fresh tomatoes (see photos below). I just picked these from my garden this morning before they get overripe. I made tomato sauce which can be kept in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or even frozen (just not as good).
