Mercer Arena
The Red Voodoo Tour
Sammy Hagar and the Waboritas put on a spectacular
performance for Seattle fans packed into the
Paramount Theater sunday night. From the minute
they stepped on stage, Sammy and the Waboritas
were very interactive with the fans…Sammy often
stopped mid-song to sign various souveniers that
fans had brought (including my “Marching to Mars”
cd- thanks Sammy!). Cabo Wabo tequila was in
abundance as usual and after a brief toast Vic
launched into “Cabo Wabo” and never looked back.
Sammy’s voice was amazing all evening but was
particularly impressive during “Dreams” and
“Top of the World.” The setlist was pretty much
standard…Sammy even made a few people on the
balcony really happy when he honored their request
for him to play “Give to Live.” He mentioned
that it is easy to ignore special requests when
they are shouted at him but when fans go to the
trouble of making a sign, he couldnt refuse.
Everybody really got into “Mas Tequila” and
“Why Cant This Be Love?,” and we were treated
to a powerful performance of “Little White Lie.”
Mona was absolutely amazing all evening, she
really held down the low end grooves and was
all smiles the whole time.
All in all, it was an amazing evening in a great
venue and we hope to see Sammy back in Seattle
soon. Thanks to Dave, Jesse, Mona, Vic, and
Sammy for a great time. And to the fans:
remember to respect each other and have
a great time!
Thanks to Aaron Nickell for the review and James P. Harter for the set list.
