Unbelievable what happened last night! Every artist brought it big time and the eclectic lineup that looked like it could be oil and water ended up being the friendliest lineup we've had so far. We all ended up going out to dinner afterwords and celebrating till the wee wee hours.
I did Jay Leno's garage all day today with the "I Can't Drive 55" 1984 512 Boxer that was used in the video. What a blast!! We had police escorts to block off the road so we could do some fun driving. I can't wait to see this episode. Most fun I've had driving in a long time wooo hoo!!! Now I'm ready for Acoustic 4 A Cure.
You guys can't imagine what a thrill it was to see Jay Leno driving my BB 512 Ferrari as a passenger!! One of the highlights of my driving experiences! The guy is a bad ass driver.
What a great weekend for the Foot and the Foot Soldiers. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the loyalty and understanding from the fans of what we/Chickenfoot stand for and represent in this big giant corporate world of music we all live in.
Sammy and Kari Hagar threw a paella on the patio test run party Tuesday night with a small group of 30 friends including Tre and Sarah Cool plus Joe and Rubina Satriani. The paella was cooked perfectly as well as all the tapas and everyone brought a bottle or 2 or 3 of Spanish wine to complement the food...
"Looks like Colleen and Michelle's 15th annual Northwest redhead bash was a big success!! I'm so proud of these redheads keeping the party going Wabo style! One of these days I'm gonna make it up to one and surprise the living shit out of these people.
Chad Kroger from Nickelback and Toby Keith hanging out together at the Cabo Wabo celebrating our 26th anniversary. The crowd went crazy when they hit the stage together... where is Sammy? Ha ha.
"These guys rock the Cantina damn near as often as I do - I love these guys, I love this place. I built it for this very reason, for my friends and fellow musicians to be able to do what we love to do even on vacation and that's play music" - Sammy
"No cover charge. Come as you are. I love this bar" says Toby
"It's hard to believe it's been 26 years! Some of the most fun I've had in my life has been since the opening of the Cabo Wabo. I just spent a week down there celebrating the anniversary because I couldn't be there today... played the Cantina three times! The most fun is when nobody knows, I just walk out there, always a great feeling makes everybody so high. You can do no wrong on stage after that ha ha.
The discovery of a place like Cabo and the creation of the Cantina has created a lifestyle for me and hundreds of thousands of fans. Its one of those dreams I never dreamt would come true. I don't know where I would be in my life or how I would even dress if it weren't for that lifestyle change.
I thank the fans and the staff at the Cantina from the bottom my heart, Michael Anthony, Eddie and Alex, and my partners Marco, Jorge, and all the staff (some that have been there 26 years) - it's awesome! thank you, thank you, thank you!" - Sammy
The Cabo Wabo Cantina opened its doors in April 1990 and Van Halen was there to throw a monster opening party. This is a clip of an acoustic Van Halen performance of the song "Cabo Wabo".
Check out this clip from MTV when the Cabo Wabo Cantina had just opened!
Last night was the unofficial 26th anniversary of the Cabo Wabo Cantina. I played with Cabo Uno to a packed house. The Cantina filled up early like a birthday bash, we had to shut down the entrance at 8 PM.
Lots of redheads came down, it was as close to the birthday bash as it gets -- I loved it. The real anniversary is Sunday the 17th, but I will be doing the John Varvatos Stuart house event in Los Angeles with Mikey, Vic, and Chad, but I bet there's a hell of a party at the Cantina.
I did a surprise acoustic set with the band Sister Dass tonight at the Cabo Wabo Cantina. We played 45 minutes to 100 surprised guests. It was fantastic - I've never done that patio thing in 26 years. Wow, be doing some more of that! Ps. Blew the PA up on Red Voodoo oooops! Ha. 26th anniversary week starting off with a bang. See you all Wednesday with, Cabo Uno! - Sammy
This was at the Cabo Wabo Cantina - Lake Tahoe tonight. Andrew Hagar and Kelly Kristofferson who call themselves the "Appalachian Murder Bunnies" performed some covers and some really cool originals. Later, I joined them with Aaron S. Hagar, Kari, Samantha, and the man himself, Kris Kristofferson. We finish the night off with me and Bobby McGee, Kris, and daughter Kelly bringing tears to my eyes - it was a family affair to say the least
PS Tahoe Wabo rules plenty of redheads on hand. How to hell do they figure that shit out? ha ha ❤
