Recommended places to stay in Cabo

July 21, 2010 by salsajedi

Hello to all, I am new here and realize this topic has probably come up a few times before so bear with me... There is a group (4 couples) of us heading to Cabo next February. I am not having much luck reading through the reviews on the various travel sites about where to stay in Cabo so, I thought I would try here. We have a few requirements - 1) Must be a reasonable distance from town so we don't get soaked with big $$$ cab fares. 2) We are not looking for a "cheap" place - we are willing to pay for a nicer place, 3) All inclusive or fend for ourselves, it doesn't matter as long as there are a lot of great places to eat. 4) Must be ocean front. That's about it. We have all been to Mexico many times though this will be our first time in Cabo, and I for one can't wait... P.S.- We saw Sammy and the crew headline at Moondance Jam in Walker Mn. last week and man he just get's better with age - Fantastic show under the stars. Peace, SJ.

We have stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Rose the past 3x in cabo. The Blanco is also next door. We just bought last year at the Casa Dorada and looking forward to the BDAY bash. I would recommend either one. Casa Dorada is closer to town than the Rose and both are right on Medano Beach. There are privacy sections off the beach if you don't want to deal with the Vendors. Any room at Casa Dorada above the 1st floor has a view of Land's End from the balcony. It is definitly close enough to walk to town, usually still take a cab on the way back.

We stay on Solmar beach. Close to town. It's an easy walk to town but a cab ride to the Cabo Wabo will run about $6 each time. The hotels there are the Solmar, Playa Grande, and Finnisterra. Solmar is being reconstructed right now. We are staying at Palya Grande this year to get away from the construction. They are all beachfront but you can't swim on that beach. No vendors to bug you though.

Medano beach is the swimming beach, but is not private. There's only a few hotels close to town there, but I think they are nice too.
