Back In Town

TGIF My Fellow RedHeads:

I was running some errands at lunch today, and was hit with an epiphany when the Thin Lizzy classic "The Boys Are Back In Town" came on the radio.

Now stop for a minute and think about this. Thirty four years after its initial release, this song is still a mainstay of most rock station catalogs, and to this day, many have tried to emulate its sound, but none have come close. However, how incredible would it be to hear a Chickenfoot version of this song to open up the 2011 tour? Phil Lynott (May God Rest His Soul) had a very distinctive vocal sound, but so does Sammy, and please don't even try to convince me that Joe could not put his own spin on the work of Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham while still paying homage to the original. Twin guitarists, already built into Chickenfoot (and might I say quite an upgrade as well). Remember the VH Live recording of "Won't Get Fooled Again"? In my opinion, Sammy sounded better than Roger Daltry, and I am a HUGE Daltry fan.

Just something for the band to consider for the next tour, but either way, I am stoked for any new snippets the guys are willing to release ahead of time. "HINT, HINT, MY DEAR FRIEND SAM".

I guess that is it for now, but have a great weekend, drink a shot or two of CABO, and try to find the beach.

PS: The name has NOTHING to do with a fish, just a personal tribute to a special person from my past.

well put my friend!! No doubt Sammy's voice is light years beyond Roger Daltry's at this point in both of their careers.

I have a theory... if you leave work one night and you go out to start your car and your battery is dead, and the only tool you have at your disposal is your MP3 player...I am pretty sure you could set your headphones next to the battery teriminals, pick your favorite Sammy rock scream excerpt, crank the volume, turn the key, and be home in time for supper.

I am not even joking when I tell you I have blown out 2 sets of earbuds in the last 2 months on nothing but my steady diet of Sammy/Van Hagar/Chickenfoot and Montrose.

Peace, ♥ and rock & roll!!
