I Wanna Jam With Sammy Hagar Because:
Sammy Hagar is without question my favorite rock singer of all time and getting to be on stage with him would be a life-long dream come true. I first saw Sammy live at Arrowhead Stadium at Summer Jam 79, the summer after my freshman year of high school. The bill was local boys “Missouri†then Sammy, The Cars, Heart and Ted Nugent. Sammy stole the show with his energy and attitude. He was running all over the large festival stage and climbing on the PA scaffolding. I distinctly remember him taking a lap steel guitar and sitting at the edge of the stage with his feet on the barricade as he did a solo that led into “Bad Motor Scooter.†That day Sammy defined to me the meaning of rock star!
I have seen Sammy countless times since then, in 1983 with Night Ranger, and then VOA, 5150, OU812, F.U.C.K., Balance, Marching to Mars, Red Voodoo, Sam and Dave , The VH reunion, The Other Half, 2 Chickenfoot shows and many tours in between. I worked at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City for a few years and Sammy played there during that time. I didn’t get to meet Sammy but got to talk with Dave and Mona as Dave told a story about playing Madison Square Garden with KISS.
Not only is Sammy my favorite singer, I have always felt a connection to the words he has written so much so that I included quotes from “Right Now†in a eulogy for my best friend and long-time drummer.
I even married a Red Head. In 2011, my wonderful wife suggested we use our income tax return to go to the Birthday Bash at the Cabo Wabo. She said I had always talked about going and though it was the best use for that money. She was so right. We saw Sammy “When He’s 64†It was a dream trip and a great concert experience with the Wabos and guest Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, Kenny Aronoff, Kenny Chesney, and Chad Kroger. We waited in line all day and were lucky enough to be within a few feet of the stage for the entire show.
I play bass, rhythm guitar and sing. I’ve been playing in band since the early 80’s and am currently in Pompous Jack- www.PoumpousJack.com –I am also a songwriter and have written hundreds of songs over the last 30 years. One song in particular “Red Eyed and Ready†would fit well on Standing Hampton.
I have always had the rock-n-roll fantasy of playing on a big stage, putting on a high energy and audience involving show. Getting to jam, record, rehearse and perform with the excellent musicians in the Wabos and the legendary Sammy Hagar would be a once in a lifetime, pinch me I’m dreaming moment that I would never forgot and would never let anyone else I know forget either.
This contest will be announced the day before my 49th birthday. Winning it would be the best present I’ve gotten since I got my first guitar for my 13th and started my rock-n-roll journey.

I love everything about Sammy Hagar. I became a fan when I saw him on the 5150 tour in 1986. Simply put, he has the best rock 'n roll voice I have ever heard. His lifestyle, outlook on life and how he shares that with everybody is amazing. I've been to Cabo St. Lucas five times and the Cabo Wabo likely 50 times. I did the on stage concert thing in Buffalo, New York. It was amazing. Sammy Hagar is always optimistic and whenever I have a bad day I just put on some Sammy or think of Cabo Wabo and I'm happy again. Sammy is the reason I started playing guitar. It would be absolutely amazing to meet/play with Sammy Hagar at the rock 'n roll fantasy Camp. I compose rock songs and every one of them is written with Sammy's voice in mind.
