BLOOMBERG TO HAGAR: I HEARD YOU (somewhat)

May 21, 2003

New York, NY:  After months of protests and outcries from NYC community leaders fell on deaf ears in the Big Apple's City Hall about halting the closure of eight city firehouses, the city's firefighters union, the Uniformed Firefighters Association called upon Sammy Hagar, who with his band  "The Waboritas," performed a free concert at Battery Park on Monday (19) to save firehouses.

Within six hours of Hagar's performance the Mayor announced that he was keeping two of the eight firehouses open, something no one else was able to accomplish to date.

"Hats off to the Mayor," stated Hagar. "He's trying to do the right thing. I guess we'll just have to come back and play a little louder."

Hagar, who's in New York all this week has just released his latest CD, "Sammy and the Wabos Live, Hallelujah."
