Sammy and the Waboritas capture Cabo and tease the fans with a taste of what's to come with "RED VOODOO" on October 9th, 10th and on Sammy's birthday, October 13th in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The fans heard most all of the new songs on the album RED VOODOO, due to be released in February of 1999.
The crowd roared with excitement when Sammy and the band stepped out on stage each night. Arms waving in the air and voices singing out and remembering the lyrics to songs that had only been heard one time before. It's no surprise that Sammy and the band KNOW how to put on a show !! Fans took the trek to Cabo San Lucas to this years Birthday Bash 98 coming from as far as Australia on a 27 hour plane ride, Canada, and from nearly every state in the US to hear songs from the new upcoming album RED VOODOO and party with other Redrocker fans from across the nation.
The crowd participated in a video that was being shot for the song "Mas Tequila" on Friday and Saturday's show. They also participated in crowd shots that were being filmed on Sunday at the Cabo Wabo. On Sunday after the video shoot was finished, Sammy and the Waboritas poured their hearts out in a very personal singing of the song "CABO WABO" to the small crowd of people in the cantina who got to watch and participate in the video shoot. It was awesome to say the least.
Sammy would like to personally THANK each and everyone of you who made the long trek down to Cabo to see him and the Waboritas. It was a long, hot wait for some of you standing out in the line to get into the shows, but nonetheless you were all troopers with a ton of patience!!! The cantina was having some problems with its air conditioning system and Sammy apologizes for the heat that his fans had to endure before and during the shows but it didn't stop the fun and energy that was Rocking inside the Cantina.
